Reference Section Information

What is the Reference Section?

The Reference Section is where you ask a question and other people reply with their comments and advice just like a news group. News groups are only able to keep articles up for a short time before they are replaced and they are full of spam or junk not pertaining to the news groups.

How long does a question or answer stay around?

Our intent is to keep questions and responses around for a reference for as long as you feel they are useful. By voting, you decide how long they should stay around. From time to time, we may remove questions because of lack of interest.

How much faith should I put into the answers I get to my questions?

You have to remember the person giving the answer can be anywhere in the world and can appear to be someone they are not. For instance, if you ask a medical question, be aware the people responding are giving their opinions and are not doctors or trained medical professionals. If they say they are, they are probably not because a doctor will not give advice without seeing a patient. If you are having a medical problem, you should seek professional help, see your doctor. Hopefully, the answers you get here or elsewhere on the Internet will help you but, you need to be responsible for your self.

If someone adds or answers a question and it is a inappropriate or offensive or just plane stupid, you can vote it off. When the "Current Poll Question Quality" gets too low, it will be automatically removed. Basically, YOU decide what stays.

Why do you call it the reference section?

In the hopes it will become a reference tool that can be used for people in search of answers.

None of the categories match the subject I need. How can I add them?

E-mail the webmaster and I will add any category we need. Be sure to explain why and where you think the new category should be added. There are 4 levels of categories.

Example:

Lets say you want to add a category about newborn diabetic children. The place you want to add it is Health, Diabetes, Kids, Newborn but I may think it could go under Family, Children, Newborn, Diabetes. Be specific. You can also discuss it as a group.

Is the Reference Section open to anybody?

Yes. In order to be able to ask or answer questions you will need to register. At this point you only have to make up an ID and password.

Why do I need to register in order to ask or answer questions?

It is a way to hide your real name. Some times you need to divulge rather personal information. This allows you to do this in a safer way.

The Internet is a dangerous place. You may not realize it but you are constantly dropping bits of information and there are people that are making an effort to collect them. Armed with enough information they can steal your identity and more. In most cases, your real name is not important anyway.

I will block an account if that person is causing problems.

Please note: There is nothing stopping you from using your real name.

How will the information be used?

It will not be used for anything if you only use the Reference Section. It is used to generate statistics in the Polling Place. I may your e-mail address to resend your password if you forget. See our privacy policy

Will your information be sold or released to an outside sources?

NO!

What information do I need to register?

You only have to make up an ID and password. All of the other information is not required.
